In Thailand, a total of 25,100 Thai nationals from various fields, such as monks and masters, have applied for voluntary military service in the Royal Thai Army, Thai military spokesman General Sirichan Ngathong said.
In Thailand, after the annual conscription draw was temporarily suspended during the Thingyan festival, it resumed after the festival. The draft process (10-20 percent) remaining division (1), (2) and (4) areas will continue until April (20).
General Sirichan Ngathong said that from April 1st to 12th, about 251 hundred youths registered for voluntary military service. Among these young people, (22) have obtained bachelor’s degrees.
General Sirichan Ngathong said that by applying, they gave up the right to reduce the period of military service from two years to six months, and showed their intention to complete two years of military service.
In addition, (23) holders of master’s degrees also applied for voluntary military service. The 27 monks who were exempted from military service were asked to follow the military service procedures. Among the 27 monks, there are 6 literate monks who are studying at the Sangha University.
Other people who volunteered for military service are people working in various fields. Major General Sirichan Ngathong said the figures will improve the Thai military’s plans to improve the military service system.
